Kabusecha is cultivated in the shade for about 14-20 days before being harvested in 45% shadow. This suppresses photosynthesis and results in characteristics similar to both a fine Sencha and a fresh Gyokuro. The tea has a less stringent, sweeter flavour, and a wonderful green colour and incredibly rich aroma. It makes for a crystal-clear brew.
