Nilgiri Parkside FOP

India

A prime example of fine tea from southern India is found at Parkside. Like many plantations founded during the 19th century, the tea bushes were planted by Chinese prisoners captured by the British during the Opium War. Although this tea cannot compete with its counterpart in the Darjeeling district in terms of quality, it offers an interesting taste experience. The tea is harvested all-year-round, but you get the best yield in January. The leaves are violet-brown, accompanied by just a few buds, which give a dark, rich brew similar to that of Ceylon teas. The taste is round and soft, fruity and aromatic. Perfect to drink in the morning.
